At this point, most people would probably associate the Milwaukee music scene with a certain kind of music. The city has become known for its high-energy Rap music, which has been making waves nationally in recent years. There are other artists from Milwaukee who have been garnering a name for themselves in recent years. One of the most prominent is Khal!l. His very unique brand of R&B and Electric Pop music has not only helped him stand out and shine in Milwaukee but also the Indie Pop scene as a whole. His music is very eclectic and unique. One could see comparisons to artists like Frank Ocean, Giveon, or even Bon Iver. Whoever he may have traces of, he definitely stands out. Khal!l first started to pop off in 2023 when his album Heart started to gain traction online. He has stayed very prolific with his releases since then, dropping an extended version of Heart in 2024 as well as two projects in 2025 titled Please, Take Me With You and For When, The Sun Drops. Khal!l has released two singles in 2026 so far titled ‘THE DANGER’ and ‘MY FEET.’ Below, I wanted to briefly highlight these two new singles from Khal!l. Please let me know in the comments below what you think of Khal!l and his music!
‘THE DANGER’ is the first of Khal!l’s 2026 singles, having dropped back in April. This song definitely shows how different and interesting he is when compared to his peers. Sonically, this track has a very sunny, sweet feel. Its sound is based on experimental Jazzy R&B. The melody is driven by a bright horn that is complemented by a piano riff and some other wind instruments that come in and out. The melody feels very simple and complex at the same time; its sophistication is very cool. The beat is slow yet pushy, and fades in and out throughout the track. As cool as the instrumental is, the vocals are even more impactful. The way that Khal!l’s tone fluctuates is so cool. At times, he sings with a raspy powerfulness that evokes so much emotion. At other moments, his vocals are delicate and soft, giving the song so much texture. On ‘THE DANGER,’ Khal!l sings about how hard he is to love and how he understands the sorrow his potential feels.
‘MY FEET’ is Khal!l’s latest single, having come out on June 12. has an even more atmospheric and avant-garde sound than the song that precedes it. The instrumental for this one has a colder and more spacey feeling. The melody is a bit simpler in format. It is mainly driven by a synthesized keyboard riff. There are other synths and backing vocals that come in and out which give it depth, but it is not as sophisticated as the one in ‘THE DANGER.’ The melody does pick up towards the end of the song, with a funky bassline and guitar riff coming in as well. Even though this melody is simple in practice, it actually feels very heavy. The beat on ‘MY FEET’ comes in during the second half of the song. This beat actually has a Dance-Pop element that is pretty damn cool. The fast beat kind of contrasts with the slower feeling at the beginning of the track, and it gives the song so much texture. Once again, the vocals on this song are excellent. Khalil shows off so much range on this track, and the emotion he feels is palpable. On ‘MY FEET,’ Khal!l sings about a past relationship and how he is growing and learning from the situation. Both of these singles from Khal!l are so enticing, and it makes me excited to see what he does next.
