Late last year, I discovered a very cool Indie Pop artist named Tala Silva. As with many awesome Indie Pop artists I have discovered over the last few years, I came across Tala Silva on TikTok. She immediately stood out to me, not only for her music, but for the cute and interesting ways she promotes it on social media. Tala Silva is a true Indie Bedroom Pop artist through and through, and her DIY approach is very refreshing. She draws inspiration from many artists in her music, and her sound is familiar yet unique. She definitely has similarities to artists like Clairo, beabadoobee, Laufey, and even The Marias. She even has some R&B in her music. If you are into the sound of any of them, you would definitely like Tala Silva. She had a pretty big 2025, releasing several singles and two EPs, titled Highs and Lows and All Over Again (the second of which was the first thing I wrote about for Eastside Vibes). She has been very active in 2026 as well, having released quite a few singles. Below, I wanted to talk about her two latest singles, “Why Do You Hurt Me?” and “My Love To Keep.” Please let me know what you think of Tala Silva and her new singles in the comments below!
A lot of Tala Silva’s music has such a dreamy and floaty sound to it. If you are a fan of The Marias in particular, this is a song you would really enjoy. ‘Why Do You Hurt Me?’ is a song that completely fits that description. The synths and guitar riff that drive this track have such a light and sweet sound to them. The feeling of this melody is very soft and delicate on the verses, and it picks up some emphasis on the hook. The beat for ‘Why Do You Hurt Me?’ is laid-back and slow. The beat fits the energy of the melody very well. Tala Silva’s vocals on this one are just as dreamy as the melody. Her tone is so calming, and her range gives the song life. I especially love the high notes and hits at the end of the track, as they provide a really sweet outro. On ‘Why Do You Hurt Me?,’ Tala Silva calls out a partner for their dishonesty, aloofness, and the lack of effort they put in.
‘My Love To Keep’ is a track with a bit more energy than the song that precedes it. The track has a somewhat similar dreamy melodic style, but it is a bit more pronounced on this one. There is something about the bassline and guitar riff that drives this one which gives it a 1980s feeling to it. It almost feels like a New Wave Soft Pop song from that time. The drums on this track are kind of pronounced and are faster than those on the last track. ‘My Love To Keep’ definitely has more of a dancey feeling to it. Once again, Tala Silva’s vocals on this track are so nice. Her tone fits the brightness of the melody, and the softness with which she sings is so welcoming. On ‘My Love To Keep,’ Tala Silva sings about appreciating and loving herself! It is a very sweet sentiment.
***Tala Silva also has a new single coming out next week, so be on the look out for that one!***
