If you haven’t been paying attention to the Milwaukee music scene lately, it has really been popping off. I feel like the city has more exciting artists making music right now than ever before, and it’s been awesome to follow the scene’s progress. Milwaukee has an awesome underground scene right now, with so many artists coming up making great music. Two of Milwaukee’s coolest underground artists right now are DJ Megadon and Spaidez. They both have been a part of the scene for a while, but have especially popped off over the last couple of years. At Eastside Vibes, I will admit I was sleeping on both of these artists until recently. I was only put onto DJ Megadon last year, and this will be my first time reviewing Spaidez. I was a big fan of two tapes DJ Megadon put out in 2025: Rookie of the Year and Lost Boys. Those projects got me pumped up to see what he gets up to in 2026. Recently, DJ Megadon and Spaidez released a joint tape titled Two Man Power Trip. This whole tape centers on the theme of old professional wrestling, evident in the song titles and samples. Below, I wanted to highlight a few of my favorite songs, as well as give some thoughts on the project as a whole. Please let me know in the comments what you think of DJ Megadon and Spaidez’s Two Man Power Trip.
SMACKDOWN
There are many songs on this project that really embody the feeling of Milwaukee Slap music. ‘Smackdown’ comes early in the tracklist(it’s the second song after the ‘Intro’), and it sets a Milwaukee music tone so well. The opening sample comes from the old WWF SmackDown introduction, which is recognizable for those who grew up watching wrestling. The melody for this track(if you can call it that), is so gritty. It is led by a female vocal sample with a pretty dirty tone, complemented by light synths. The drums on this one bang, and have a Slap sort of tempo that could get any function bumbling. I really like how DJ Megadon and Spaidez glide on this beat. Their flows fit the rhythm so well and keep up the party feeling of the song. ‘Smackdown’ is a Slap music anthem that just feels so Milwaukee with it.
EXTREME
‘Extreme’ is a song that is pretty aptly named. It has one of the most riveting and wild instrumentals of anything here. The melody has a Rock feeling to it that is very different. The guitar riff that drives this one has such a professional wrestling energy to it. The guitar riff has some distorted synths that complement it and add to the tough feeling of the melody. I am not sure this is the case, but I would actually assume this melody is a sample from an old WWF intro. The drums are fast-paced and pound hard. The beat takes the larger-than-life feeling of this track to the next level. DJ Megadon and Spaidez really excel on this beat and match the emphasis of the instrumental. I especially dig Spaidez’s verse on this one, as his tongue-in-cheek way of rapping and his flow fit this one so well. ‘Extreme’ is a high-key banger with a Rock element that sets it apart.
RANDY SAVAGE(FEAT. HALLOWBARI)
Considering I went as Randy Savage for Halloween last year, you know I had to pick this track. ‘Randy Savage’ starts out with one of Randy’s most iconic quotes, of course( “I am the cream of the crop!”). This song has an awesome sample that drives the melody. It is a retro funky R&B sample with a very bright and warm feeling to it. The vocal sample is what mainly drives this melody, and it is complemented by some equally compelling synths to add some more depth. This song has a drum pattern that stands out as well. The drums are light, fast-paced, and groovy. They match the energy of the melody so well. The rap performance on this one is great as well. DJ Megadon and Spaidez do their thing of course, but Hallowbari does stand out. His flow and tone add a texture to the song that pops. ‘Randy Savage’ is my favorite song from this project, as it just hits in every manner.
TRAVIS HUNTER FREESTYLE (FEAT EF AY)
If you follow this blog, you already know I was going to ‘Travis Hunter Freestyle’ due to the feature from Ef Ay(I will be covering his new project soon as well). Ef Ay always brings something extra to everything he is on, and this track is no different. ‘Travis Hunter Freestyle’ has a very cold and harsh instrumental. The melody(if one can call it that) is provided by what sounds like alarms. The drums have a fast and distorted Trap tempo that is so high key. All three rap performances on this one are great. The chemistry between these three is palpable, and they really match up with the energy of the instrumental. ‘Travis Hunter Freestyle’ is a cool and enthralling high-key fast-paced Trap banger.
ROCK BOTTOM
‘Rock Bottom’ is another track with an iconic sample to start off the track. If you have ever seen any clips of Dwayne Johnson’s wrestling days, I am sure you will remember this one( “It doesn’t matter what your name is!”) Like ‘Extreme,’ the melody for this one has a harsh Rock element to it. The distorted guitar riff that drives this one gives it such a massive feeling. The heaviness of the instrumental is added to by the bumping Slap beat that the melody is put on. Even though Spaidez is probably the main artist on this track, Megadon’s performance really sticks out. Don’t get me wrong, Spaidez does his thing and I especially dig the hook he provides. But something about Megadon’s flow and tone fit greatly with this instrumental. ‘Rock Bottom’ is a Rock-adjacent Slap track that takes on the hype energy of The Rock.
In the introduction, I briefly mentioned how much DJ Megadon and Spaidez set themselves apart from the rest of the Milwaukee music scene. They both seem to have very exuberant characters, which certainly comes through in their art. Two Man Power Trip is a great example of why these two are so different, and why they should be paid attention to. First of all, the professional wrestling theme of this project is pretty awesome. Every song, including the ‘Intro,’ ‘Outro,’ and both interludes, has multiple references to WWE wrestlers and themes throughout the years. If you paid attention to professional wrestling at all during the 1990s or early 2000s, you will certainly recognize some of the soundbites on this project. This aspect of the mixtape alone makes it exciting and entertaining. Theme aside, the actual music on Two Man Power Trip is exciting as well. The production on this project is so unique and energizing. A lot of the mixtape is centralized around Milwaukee Slap music, which will always turn me up when I hear it. I like the songs that have more of a rapid Trap sound as well, as they give the project variety. As I said more than once, DJ Megadon and Spaidez really play well off of each other on this project. What they both bring to the table with their flows and vocal styles is memorable. They also have a link that is palpable throughout the mixtape. The features on this one are great also, with both bringing so much to their particular tracks. Overall, Two Man Power Trip is a dope mixtape that has a significant theme and sound. It is definitely a project I recommend checking out to anyone who likes upbeat Rap music.
