CHECK OUT THESE NEW SINGLES FROM LISA OF BLACKPINK

If you are in tune with what is big in K-Pop music even a little bit, you definitely know all about Lisa. She is a K-Pop icon who has made as big an impact as anyone. If you are a K-Pop fan, you probably do not need much of a description about who she is from me. If you do not know a ton about K-Pop, you still may have a good idea of who Lisa is. Lisa rose to fame as a member of the worldwide phenomenon K-Pop group that is BLACKPINK. With BLACKPINK, Lisa has become a global superstar that has broken many awards. At their peak, BLACKPINK was easily one of the most popular artists in the world(they probably still are even though they have sort of been on hiatus for the last year plus). BLACKPINK is the most successful female K-Pop group of all time(kind of by far), and they are the most successful K-Pop group in general other than BTS. BLACKPINK’s 2022 record Born Pink was the first record by a female group to reach number one on the Billboard 200 since Danity Kane, and they were the first Asian artist to be a headliner at Coachella(if you have never seen videos of their Coachella performances, please go check them out because they are so epic). In addition to her success with BLACKPINK, Lisa has had a ton of success in solo endeavors. She is a global ambassador for brands like Celine and Bulgari, and she is considering one of the top celebrity models in the world. In addition to this, Lisa has also had a burgeoning solo music career. Her first solo mini album, Lalisa, came out in 2021. The music video for ‘Lalisa’ garnered the most views for a female artist on Youtube in the first 24 hours ever; also, both tracks from this release, ‘Lalisa’ and ‘Money,’ entered the Top ten on the Billboard Global charts. After three years, Lisa is now returning with some new solo music, under her own music label Lloud, which is an imprint of RCA. Her first single, ‘Rockstar,’ reached number one on the Billboard 200 list. She recently released her second single from this new music venture, titled ‘New Woman’ with Rosalia, which is understandable already gaining a ton of traction online. Below, I wanted to highlight these two new very cool singles from Lisa. Please let me know in the comments below what you think of ‘Rockstar’ and ‘New Woman,’ and also comment the names of any other songs or artists you think I should write about next!

Lisa’s first single of the year, ‘Rockstar,’ was dropped back on June 27. As I mentioned above, this single has had a ton of success, and it is easy to see why. ‘Rockstar’ is a larger than life banger that pushes boundaries with its sound in every way. ‘Rockstar’ is a HyperPop-Trap fusion that sounds like it came out of the year 2200. The melody for ‘Rockstar’ is menacing, driven by foreboding synths with a ton of distortion and texture. I love how complex this melody is, as it makes the song so intense. The beat for ‘Rockstar’ is just as intricate and high-key as the instrumental; this beat certainly adds to the raucous feeling of the track. Lisa demonstrates all of the things about her that make her a captivating vocalist on ‘Rockstar.’ She hits so many notes while she is singing and demonstrates a variety of tones. Her rap verse is extremely brash and your face: her rapid fire flow fits so well on this beat. ‘Rockstar’ feels like an evolution of the song ‘Money’ and shows that Lisa’s Hip Hop chops are stronger than ever. ‘New Woman,’ which features Rosalia, was released last week(on August 15). It is already making waves online as well. ‘New Woman’ has a totally different sound than ‘Rockstar.’ In fact, this song has way different sound than anything I have heard from Lisa in the past, including her work with Blackpink. ‘New Woman’ is an interesting song with a very complicated sound. Most of the track has a futuristic House Music Boom Bap fusion sort of instrumental, but there is also a sludgy and heavy Trap breakdown in the middle of the track. The melody for ‘New Woman’ is very sweet and bright. The positive tone of this melody fits the very dancey and jovial beat that drives most of ‘New Woman.’ The vocals from both Lisa and Rosalia on ‘New Woman’ are honestly great. The rap verses from both ladies are so captivating, and the sweet tones they both sing add to the super bright sound of the song as a whole. ‘New Woman’ has a sound that I would not have expected to hear from Lisa or Rosalia, and both of them just kill it on this track. These two new singles from Lisa show her growth as a solo artist, and they make me very excited to see what she cooks up next.
