CHECK OUT RISING CHICAGO ARTIST RHYMSTER AND HIS NEW SINGLE ‘WADDUP RHYMES’

Chicago is a city that has always been brimming with talented Hip Hop artists. This city has been a driving force in the Hip Hop world for such a long time; it started back with artists like Kanye, Common, and Twista emerging and dominating in the early 2000s, and has continued into the 2010s and 2020s with artists like Chief Keef, Lil Durk, and Chance the Rapper all having major impacts on Hip Hop over the last 15 years. Because of how prominent Chicago is when it comes to its influence on Hip Hop music, it can be hard for artists to break through in the city. Countless talented artists are putting in the work but do not get the recognition they deserve because of how competitive the Hip Hop scene is in Chicago. One artist who has been grinding for many years is starting to break through is RhymSter. He is a rapper who has been honing his craft for years and years; he started off in the Chicago underground scene, making a name for himself for his supreme freestyle rapping abilities. He used his talents to get himself out of the Trap lifestyle, turning his life around and becoming one of the most interesting artists coming up in the underground Chicago Hip Hop world. RhymSter has been prolific in his output since 2017. He has released quite a few stand-alone singles and mixtapes that one can find on Soundcloud and Spotify. These releases include 2020’s The Jazz Cigarette, which is the project that put him on the map as one of the more interesting rising artists in Chicago right now. RhymSter just released ‘WADDUP RHYMES,’ which is produced by Theisy. This is the first single for his record Hotbox Sparrin, which is set to come out later this year. Here is how I feel about Rhymster’s new single ‘WADDUP RHYMES.’ Please let me know in the comments below how you feel about RhymSter and his new single, and also comment the names of any other up-and-coming artists you think I should check out!

‘WADDUP RHYMES’ is a calm and atmospheric track with an old-school feeling to it. This is the kind of song that anyone who appreciates classic, conscious Rap music would love. I actually really want to show this track to my mom(who I make my Youtube videos with), because I know she would appreciate the sound and style of this track so much. The melody for ‘WADDUP RHYMES’ is driven by a simple, melancholy guitar riff that is complemented by a somber vocal sample that comes in and out. During the hook, the melody slightly switches, taking on a more bright and jovial sound that is provided by violin-esque synths. This melody is put over a slow, subdued Hip Hop beat with a very classic sound. This beat reminds me of some of the underground Rap music made by artists like Atmosphere in the early 2000s that I grew up listening to. RhymSter, low, raspy tone and deliberate flow fit the instrumental so well. The way that he rides this instrumental is perfect; his smooth, even-keeled delivery goes with the hazy feeling of the song so well and makes it feel all-encompassing. ‘WADDUP RHYMES’ is full of poignant bars that show off how intricate a lyricist RhymSter can be. If you are a fan of lyrical rap, this is a song for you, as it feels like every line is hard-hitting and important. ‘WADDUP RHYMES’ is a hazy, tranquil rap song that would be perfect to listen to while passing a blunt around with friends. It has a hypnotic rhythm that is so addicting and so much witty lyricism that is fun to catch and latch on to as you listen to it. Songs like this make it easy to see why RhymSter is garnering so much hype and is becoming one of the most popular rappers in the underground Chicago Hip Hop scene right now. This track gets me excited to hear his new album Hotbox Sparrin when it comes out, as not only does it show how talented he is as a rapper but it also provides a fresh and unique sound that stands out when compared to all of the Trap music that is big in Hip Hop today.
