CHECK OUT THIS NEW MUSIC FROM UP AND COMING ALTERNATIVE HIP HOP ARTIST QUINN AYERS

As I have stated before, one of my favorite things is to show people new music by up-and-coming artists who deserve more recognition. There are so many young artists out there making good music that deserves way more exposure, and it has always been fun for me to expose as many people to these artists as I can. An exciting new Hip Hop artist I recently came across that needs to be recognized more is Quinn Ayers. Quinn Ayers got his career started back in 2019 while he was still playing college baseball. He began his career by releasing a plethora of singles from 2019-2021. Most of these singles had a softer Emo-tinted and melancholy Alternative Hip Hop sound to them(with a few outliers where Quinn steps outside the box a bit) that really stands out. His biggest single during these years was ‘Feelings Have Ceilings;’ this track sort of went viral and ended up putting Quinn Ayers on the map as someone to watch. Quinn Ayers released his first EP, With Love, Q, in January of 2022; he followed this release with his second EP of the year, Almost Happy, in August. On With Love, Quinn Ayers continues with the slow, downtrodden Alternative Hip Hop sound that helped him start to blow up in 2021. On Almost Happy Quinn Ayers goes a completely different route, opting for faster Pop-Punk music on this record as well as one gritty Emo-Trap song that is more aggressive than most of the rest of his music. Quinn Ayers has stayed prolific in his output since putting out Almost Happy, having released two more singles in 2022 after that EP came out, and five to start 2023. Quinn Ayers has continued to try to expand his horizons with these last several singles, showing that he is super versatile and seemingly has no boundaries on what he can do; with these latest releases, Quinn Ayers is showing that he is someone that needs to be paid attention to.

Quinn Ayers’ last two singles are a great example of how diverse he can be as an artist. The first of these singles, ‘Rink,’ which features reefuh, has a sound that sort of blends Emo Trap with Alternative Country-Pop. There is something about this song that sounds like Pop-Punk and Country at the same time. The guitar riff that drives the melody has a twangy that makes me think of Pop-Country artists like Morgan Wallen, but it has a gloomy tone that reminds me of artists like iann dior. Even the vocals from Quinn Ayers and reefuh somehow feel like they toe the line between Alternative Country-Pop and Emo Trap; they both sing with a flow and tone that makes the ‘Rink’ sound genre-less, helping it appeal to a wide range of listeners. ‘Rink’ is s relaxing Pop-Trap bop that is perfect for any kick-back. Quinn Ayers’ newest single, which features reefuh and Aime, is called ‘imissU<3.’ This song is nothing like ‘Rink.’ In fact, if someone were to tell me these two songs were by the same artist, I may not believe them. ‘imissU<3’ is a glitchy HyperPop banger that has major shades of 100 gecs or brakence. The melody on this track is so bright and clean; it has the kind of light and fun sound that immediately puts me in a good mood when I hear it. The beat on this track is constantly switching from an upbeat Dance-Pop tempo to a slow and sludgy Trap tempo; the back-and-forth element of the beat has keeps the listener on their toes throughout the track. reefuh’s vocals on this song are nice, but Quinn Ayers really stands out. K like how his deeper tone sounds on this highly distorted instrumental, as it gives the song texture. ‘ImissU<3’ is an ultramodern track that fits in so well with the HyperPop wave that has been picking up steam over the last year or so. With ‘Rink’ and ‘ImissU<3,’ Quinn Ayers is showing that he is willing to think outside the box and make s as my kind of music he wants to and that there are no boundaries to who he can be as a musician. These two new singles make me excited to see what he does next, and I am excited to follow him in the coming months and years are he progresses as an artist.
