CHECK OUT MILWAUKEE’S KING MYLES’ NEW SINGLE ‘LOOK AT THE MOON’

When I started this blog a few years ago, King Myles was one of the first Milwaukee artists I started covering. His exciting and diverse flows and his introspective and deep lyricism immediately drew me in; he had a style of rapping that was extremely captivating and he stood out in such a major way. In the late 2010s, King Myles went on an exciting run with his music, making me think he may be the next big star to break out of Milwaukee. After releasing a plethora of singles and a couple of EPs in the mid-2010s that got his name out there and showcased his massive amount of talent, he truly put his name on the map in 2018 when he dropped his single ‘Christian Yelich.’ He capitalized on this success by dropping his debut album, Horizons, near the end of 2018. King Myles stayed prolific with his output in 2019, as well, releasing an EP called Hiii Times 3 as well as a few singles. My favorite single by King Myles to date, ‘Subliminal,’ came out at the end of that year. Following 2019, King Myles’ output started to decrease. He put out a couple of short EPs in 2020 and a couple of singles in 2021. King Myles has said that Covid and the pandemic affected him deeply, and that he had to take time to himself to heal as a person and get his creative juices flowing again. After taking 2022 off to reset, King Myles returned with a point to prove in 2023. He put a few freestyles online this year to show listeners he still has the same level of magic he has in the past and is now gearing up to release a new album on July 7th. In addition to those aforementioned freestyles, King Myles also recently came out with a new single to sort his new record. ‘Look At The Moon’ is a bit of a shift in sound for King Myles; showing off a new side to his music to look forward to on the upcoming record. The song still has elements that will appeal to the fans of King Myles’ older music, but this track also has qualities that can attract a larger and wider audience.

As i mentioned above, King Myles’ new single ‘Look At The Moon’ is a departure from the kind of Hip Hop that King Myles has been known for in the past. In fact, if someone were to play me the introduction to this instrumental without telling me the artist, I would never be able to guess that it was a King Myles track. ‘Look At The Moon’ is way more mellow and Pop-oriented than what King Myles has done up until this point. The track is driven by a slightly distorted melancholy guitar riff that has a bit of an Emo-Rock feeling to it that is complemented by atmospheric synths and is put over a low key and faint Trap beat that fits the feeling of the melody nicely. King Myles’ vocals on this track are ever a bit different than his previous music; his tone is still recognizable and he still raps with his killer rapid-fire flows, but he raps in a softer and calmer way that stands out from his older songs. The restrained and laid-back manner that King Myles raps with on this track is perfect for this instrumental, adding to the already ethereal sound the song has. ‘Look At The Moon’ has introspective, heartfelt lyricism that gives the listener a look into who King Myles is as a person today. On this track, King Myles is reminiscing on great times with a loved one after spending time away from them. He is stating that we have to make sure we enjoy the great moments in our life when they are happening because we never know when those moments will be over forever. ‘Look At the Moon’ is a great return to the rap game for one of Milwaukee’s most exciting rappers. This track proves that King Myles is back and better than ever, and it makes me very excited to hear his new album when it comes out on July 7th.
