As I have tried to highlight recently as much as possible, Milwaukee has a way more diverse Hip Hop scene than it is given credit for. Most people think of goofy Drill music when they think of Milwaukee, but there are artists thriving in the city that go way beyond that stereotype. Show Berry is a rising Hip Hop and R&B artist from Milwaukee with an eclectic sound and style. Her music generally fuses modern Hip Hop with R&B or Dance music in a way that really stands out. Shle Berry first burst onto the scene in 2017 when she started posting her music on streaming sites. After releasing 6 singles throughout 2017 and 2018, she released her first EP, Tampons, in 2019. Tampons put her on the map as an upcoming star in the Milwaukee area, and multiple music publications lauded the EP for Shle Berry’s fresh sound and rugged rap flows. After taking a break in 2020 and letting her creative juices rejuvenate during The Covid pandemic, Shle Berry got right back to it in 2021, putting out four singles over the course of that year. Shle Berry stayed dormant much of 2022, as her only release of the year, a two-song single release titled SOURFRUIT, came out near the year’s end. Her first single of 2023, ‘CRANBERRY VODKA,’ just came out on June 9th. Shle Berry is an interesting and exciting artist with a sound and style that is completely her own, and it is easy to see why there has been so much hype around her in the past.

As I mentioned above, Shle Berry’s latest release is a new single called ‘CRANBERRY VODKA.’ After being a bit quiet with her output over the last year or so, she is ready to take the world by storm and show how much work she has been putting in. This track Is a cool and fun way for Shle Berry to reintroduce herself to the world and prove why she is so special. ‘CRANBERRY VODKA’ is a sweet and sensual Neo-R&B track with an old-school flair to it. There is something about this song that feels so modern and retro at the same time. The melody and beat have a feeling to them that reminds me of the late 1990s and early 2000s; particularly, I thought of artists like Ashanti and Erykah Badu when I hear this melody and beat. Even though it does feel classic, there are elements to the track that makes it feel so fresh as well. The synths that actually make up the melody sound so atmospheric and current, and Shle Berry’s vocal delivery on this track has a modern R&B Trap flow that I enjoy a lot. This song has a sultry late-night feeling that is perfect for setting the mood with a significant other. The emotion that Shle Berry is singing with is palpable; is easy to hear how passionate Shle Berry is about her partner and their budding relationship on this track. With ‘CRANBERRY VODKA,’ Shle Berry has a sleek and sexy summer Bop on her hands that will put anyone in a sexy mood when they hear it. Tracks like this make me thrilled to keep following her journey in the future, as Shle Berry has such a unique and individual sound that captivates the listener in a fun and compelling way.
